Hills Men in Morale Boosting Win

The Hills men scored a morale boosting win last weekend over St George City, who were six places higher than them on the FNSW NPL ladder.

Former German Bundesliga and A League star Nicolai Muller fired the Hills ahead in the 34th minute by converting from the penalty spot, after St George City’s Solomon-Johnn Monahan- Vaika was shown the red card for bundling Hills player Thomas Lopez inside the box, conceding a penalty in the process.

The Hills sealed their fourth win of their debut season during injury time when the busy Sunday Yona found the nets, having threatened to breach the defence earlier. Goalkeeper Ryan Wood was one of the heroes for Hills United, pulling off some splendid saves, and fittingly, he received the Player of the Match award.

Hills Men In Morale-Boosting Win

The victory will give the Hills side more confidence when they face second-placed Marconi Stallions on Saturday, May 4 at 7pm. The Stallions are one of the most established sides in NPL while the Hills are the newest team in the competition.

Hills United, coached by former Socceroo Luke Casserly, will have to be at their best throughout the game if they are to topple Marconi, who slammed four past St George FC in their last game. To put that into perspective, The Hills had previously been beaten 1-0 by St George FC
